Dalyan is an attractive village with genuine Turkish character and has everything you need for a perfect holiday. The long, sandy beach never gets crowded because of the conservation status of the area (part of the beach is home to the rare loggerhead turtle) and there are just a few bars which are ideal for a snack and a cooling drink after a leisurely swim. To get to the beach you catch a small river-boat from the harbour close to the centre and meander down to the beach in about 30 minutes, passing the famous Lycian rock tombs on the way.
If your idea of the perfect holiday is magnificent scenery, crystal clear seas, an attractive Turkish village and a laid-back, easy-going way of life, then Dalyan is definitely for you. It rarely gets crowded, even in high season and is one of Turkeys best kept secrets.
Any time is a good time to be in Dalyan although the days are longer in May and June and the sea is at its warmest in September and October. In July and August theres some local tourism whilst throughout the rest of the summer Dalyans visitors come from far and wide.
Dalyans location is superb. It enjoys a wonderful riverside setting with imposing mountains behind the resort and a fabulous beach 25 minutes away by river-boat. The village itself is very laid-back and relatively uncommercial but, at the same time, theres night-life in the shape of music-bars and a disco, a good selection of shops and restaurants and a lively weekly market.
Dalyan offers a good selection of places to eat and drink from family-run cafes to more up-market bars and restaurants for the discerning visitor. Everything is within easy walking distance and is concentrated around the centre of the village and on the river front.
Apart from the many boat trips available, you can also visit and / or try your hand at white water rafting, Jeep Safari, Turkish Bath, the famous Kaunos rock tombs and mud baths, Ephesus & Pamukkale and the Saklikent Gorge & Tlos.
Dalyans nightlife is fairly low-key with a selection of night bars and a disco. Most visitors enjoy the peace and relaxed atmosphere of the resort in the evening but theres always something to do and somewhere to go. Shopping is fun with a good choice of shops and theres also a lively weekly market.
