Holidays in Belek

Belek Introduction

Belek is situated on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast, also known as the Turkish Riviera, and enjoys around 300 days of sunshine a year. It’s not a resort in the normal sense in that it’s a collection of deluxe and first class hotels, golf courses, pine woods and great beaches, all stretching along Antalya’s lovely coastline. The ‘centre’ of Belek, reached by taxi from your hotel, offers a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants. It is absolutely perfect for couples and families looking for total relaxation in the sun whilst enjoying the superb facilities of Belek’s excellent hotels.

Why Choose Belek?

Apart from enjoying the superb year round climate, the main reasons for holidaying in Belek are the wonderful golf facilities and the chance to relax in lovely surroundings and sample first class hotels, excellent cuisine, great hotel facilities, swimming, reading, a little health or spa club treatment maybe, and, if you’re feeling energetic, some of the great sightseeing and excursion options available.

Best Time to Travel

Belek is a great place to visit at any time of the year with its mild winters and long, hot summers. From April to November, the weather is hot and sunny although hotels will be less crowded and less hot if you avoid July and August. The weather is perfect in May and June with long days and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s. In September and October, the high season summer crowds have gone and the sea is at its warmest.

The Resort

As mentioned above, Belek is not a resort as such but a collection of first class and deluxe hotels spread over a wide area along the coastline and interspersed with some world class golf courses. There’s also an aqua park, a children’s zoo and a small shopping centre. Entertainment, sports facilities and places to eat and drink are concentrated in and around the hotels as are the many and varied beach facilities. Antalya, the regional capital, with its wide selection of shops, bars, restaurants and nightlife, is approximately 25 miles away.

Eating & Drinking

There’s a good selection of bars and restaurants in all of Belek’s first class hotels and most tastes are catered for. Try the local ice cream which is delicious and a speciality of the region.

Excursions

There’s a very good choice of excursions and sightseeing which can be arranged from your hotel including boat trips along the picturesque coastline, horse-back riding and the Manavgat river tour. ‘Must-see’ places to visit are the ancient city of Perge, the sunken city of Aspendos, fascinating Termessos and the unique region of Cappadocia.

Night Life & Shopping

Most of Belek’s hotels have a shop or shops selling, amongst the usual holiday items, Turkish souvenirs and local handicrafts and most, too, offer daytime and evening entertainment. However, for serious shopping and nightlife you would need to visit Antalya, about 25 miles away, which offers an array of shops, markets and stalls of every kind and a vibrant night scene.
