Holidays in Kemer

Kemer Introduction

Kemer, located on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast, is blessed with around 300 days of sunshine a year and is one of Turkey’s best kept secrets. It’s a lovely resort and is perfect for couples and families looking to relax in the sun. It’s a nice combination of being busy-ish without being too commercial and it also offers a good selection of 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. Strict planning laws ensure that Kemer remains a small, very attractive resort.

Why Choose Kemer?

Apart from the superb climate, there’s a lovely marina, a busy resort centre with a good selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and a great beach, ideal for swimming, snorkelling, watersports and boat trips. For culture-seekers and a ‘big city’ day out, Antalya is only 25 miles away. And don’t forget to try some delicious local ice cream – the region is famous for it.

Best Time to Travel

Kemer is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year with its mild winters and long, hot summers. From April to November, the weather is hot and sunny although the resort will be less crowded and less hot if you avoid July and August. The weather is perfect in May and June with long days and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s. In September and October, the high season summer crowds have gone and the sea is at its warmest.

The Resort

Kemer enjoys a great setting with its busy resort centre and bustling marina whilst the mix of shopping, restaurants and local nightlife are perfect for this attractive, laid-back resort. There’s plenty to do and see in and around Kemer but if you fancy a local bus ride, Antalya, the regional capital, is only 25 miles away.

Eating & Drinking

There’s a good selection of bars and places to eat in Kemer and all tastes are catered for from little backstreet cafes to excellent local and international restaurants. Try the local ice cream which is delicious and a speciality of the region.

Excursions

There’s a very good choice of excursions and sightseeing including boat trips along the picturesque coastline, river rafting, a mountain jeep safari, horse-back riding and the Manavgat river tour. ‘Must-see’ places to visit are the ancient city of Perge, the sunken city of Aspendos, Termessos, Arikand and the unique region of Cappadocia.

Night Life & Shopping

Kemer’s nightlife is quite low-key but there’s still a good selection of music bars and a couple of discos. Shopping in the local shops is great fun and you’ll find prices very reasonable (don’t forget to haggle!) but, for serious shoppers, Antalya, just 25 miles away, offers a huge array of shops, markets and stalls of every kind.
