Holidays in Bodrum

Bodrum Introduction

Bodrum, a lively and cosmopolitan resort, is considered by many to be Turkey’s most vibrant and exciting destination. It overlooks a stunning natural harbour which is full of sleek yachts, traditional gulets, ferries and fishing boats. Alongside the harbour is the majestic Bodrum Castle whilst either side of the castle you will find bazaars, restaurants, bars, market stalls and a wide selection of nightspots to choose from. An excellent and cheap dolmus service will run you to the nearest beaches at Gumbet and Bitez whilst, a little further afield, you will find the attractive beach resort of Turgutreis.

Why Choose Bodrum?

There’s something for everyone in Bodrum - the fabulous harbour, the imposing castle, great shopping and the beaches just outside the town in Gumbet and Bitez. There’s a wide selection of accommodation from family-run pensions and apartments to first class hotels, excellent excursions and boat trips, a huge range of local and international restaurants and some of the best nightlife in the Mediterranean.

Best Time to Travel

From April to October there will always be things to do and see in Bodrum and the weather will be set fair. The resort will be less crowded and less hot if you avoid July and August and the weather is perfect in May and June with long days and an ideal temperature. In September and October, the high season summer crowds have gone and the sea is at its warmest.

The Resort

Bodrum enjoys a stunning setting with its castle and picturesque harbour set in a wide natural bay whilst the shopping, restaurants and nightlife are hard to beat. It’s a very cosmopolitan resort and attracts visitors from all over the world. If you fancy a day on a Greek island during your holiday, Kos is just a short distance away by hydrofoil and is one of Bodrum’s many excellent excursions.

Eating & Drinking

From small, family-run cafes to superb international restaurants, from kebab shops to sophisticated cocktail bars, Bodrum has a selection of places to eat and drink to satisfy every taste. There’s something for everyone, including delicious local Turkish cuisine and restaurants serving dishes from around the Mediterranean and beyond.

Excursions

You will be spoilt for things to do and see and, apart from the numerous boat trips available, including a day trip to the Greek island of Kos, you can also visit and / or try your hand at every type of water sport, Jeep Safaris, Turkish Baths, Pamukkale and, of course, a not-to-be-missed trip to Ephesus.

Night Life & Shopping

In Bodrum, there are bars and night clubs to appeal to all tastes - from jazz to pop, from classical to rock, there is definitely something for you. For serious shoppers the bazaar in Bodrum (with its great location just next to the harbour and the castle) is an absolute must with a wide array of shops and stalls selling everything from local spices to the finest leather jackets.
